Cetățuia monastery-fortress is a fortified complex (Cetățuia = fortress in Romanian) which consists of Cetățuia monastery, residential building, tower, museum, gothic hall, a bath, kitchen and the high fortified walls. The complex was built by prince Gheorghe Duca in 1669.
Cetățuia was built on higher ground, on a hill in Iaşi city (Moldavia region), and it provided perfect refuge during enemy siege.
