The National Museum of Art of Romania (Muzeul National de Arta al Romaniei) is located in the Royal Palace in Bucharest (Palatul Regal din Bucuresti). The museum contains collections of medieval and modern art from both Romanian and international artists.
The Museum of Art Collections is a branch of the Art Museum and it is located in the neighboring Romanit Palace. The museum from the Romanit palace contains various collections donated to the Romanian state in early XXth century.

In April 1944, Bucharest fell to carpet-bombing by the Allies which heavily damaged the palace, destroyed hundreds of buildings anda houses in Bucharest and killed thousands of civilians.
